Toi was the first ever dog that I owned and felt responsible for because I was of age to know what responsibility was and how to handle it. I've been around other dogs before her and that was when I was a small child and knew nothing of responsibility.

She came into my life when she was only 7 weeks old and I was 15. She was a Thanksgiving gift that my dad smuggled into the house in his coat. My sisters and I asked him what was in his coat and he replied, "It's nutmeg." To our surprise, when he opened up his jacket, the cutest little face peeked out. My parents said that it would make the house feel more like a home since it was the first house my father owned. Dad said that his brother gave him one of the puppies his dog had and that she was the only one that was mat trained.

She was indeed a smart dog. Smart and sassy, we'd always say. She was the runt of her litter so she was super tiny and fluffy like a little stuffed animal. Thus given her the name of Toi. I made sure she ate well to grow strong and healthy.

She made me feel like I meant something and that I was important. I suffer from anxiety and depression and Toi was always there to give me the companionship and the love that I needed to keep me afloat.

I've experienced a lot with her and she's taught me so much throughout the 11 years we've shared together. She's given birth to a litter of 5 healthy and beautiful puppies whom I had the pleasure of owning her only girl and her youngest boy who are now both 7 years old. I vowed to be there for her for the rest of her life and give her the best life she could ever ask for.

She's my little angel now and I'll never forget her and the lessons that little dog has taught me while I was growing up. I'll continue to do the same for her babies.

Rest in paradise, my sweet angel.
