And now the end is here, And so I face that final curtain
My friend I'll make it clear, I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full, I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more, I did it, I did it my way
Regrets, I've had a few, But then again too few to mention
I did what I had to do, I saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, Each careful step along the byway
And more, much, much more, I did it, I did it my way
Yes, there were times I'm sure you knew, When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself then he has naught
Not to say the things that he truly feels, And not the words of someone who kneels
Let the record shows I took all the blows and did it my way

The song, "My Way" represents my dad, Paul Gioquindo’s, outlook on life; living on your own terms; which he certainly did up until the very end. A relatively quiet man and homebody; more an observer than a participant, he loved the simple life garnished with family, friends, good food and drink.

Paul and Mom MarionOn July 4th, 1935, Paul was born at Women’s Medical Hospital in Philadelphia, where his parents, Michael and Marion Gioquindo, joyously welcomed their fifth child into the world.

Paul was raised in Germantown, (Philadelphia) with his eight siblings; three older brothers, Francis (Sonny), Michael (Junior), Enrico (Harry), older sister, Rita, three younger sisters, Agnes (Aggie), Mary Ann (Mimi), Rochelle (Shelly), and younger brother, Joseph (Cuddles).

At 17 years old, ready to experience all the world had to offer, he joined the US Air Force, completed Electronics Training, and Paul and Future Wife Katebegan his 20 year career as an Aeronautical Radio Operator, who acts as an intermediary for air-ground communications. He loved his job, flying to far and exotic places that he could only dream of as a child.

While stationed in Athens, Greece, he met a beautiful young woman at the beach, and the rest is history. Shortly after, he made that beautiful woman his wife, and they would spend the next 64 years together.

On January 20, 1957, Paul and Ekaterini Kentavrou tied the knot at Agio Zoni Greek Orthodox Church in Athens. Over the Paul and Kidsfollowing years, Paul and Cathy were blessed with three children; two daughters, Marianne and Marie, and one son, Paul, four grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Mariel and Melanie, and two great-grandchildren, Althea and Gray.

In 1973, Paul retired from the US Air Force as a SMSGT; then worked for Crown, Cork and Seal and the Philadelphia Inquirer until age 55 when he decided to call it quits so he could pursue his love for traveling the world.

In his later years, he enjoyed spending time in his homes in Southwest Florida, Cape May, NJ and Churchville PA. He always had a project going; his favorite pursuits were remodeling the house, fixing anything that broke, all things financial, and his beloved PC.

Paul J. GioquindoPaul passed away on September 9, 2021 at Holy Redeemer Hospital, where he fought a brave battle against a serious lung infection. He is survived by his wife, Cathy, his children Marianne, Paul and Marie; his grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Mariel and Melanie, his great-grandchildren Althea and Gray, and his sisters Agnes, Mary Ann and Rochelle.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 4th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Richboro, PA, followed by burial at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.

He will be greatly missed; but will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
